Guitar Parts 2

The Parts of the Electric Guitar shown above are all the things that make the guitar work, the pickups and strings produce the sound when it is plugged into an amplifier, this is done by connecting a lead to the input and then to the amplifier.

On Acoustic guitars the sound comes from the strings and is amplified through the body of the acoustic, and then comes out of the sound hole, it works in the same way but its not plugged into anything.

Electro Acoustics are the same as an acoustic but can be plugged into an amplifier like an electric guitar, you will only get an amplified acoustic sound but its a lovely sound

The main things to look for when buying a guitar, well ok you may be drawn to that metallic red fancy shaped guitar in the corner of the shop but is it practical, you want a guitar thats gonna give you the right sound so will it do what you want it to, single coil pickups will have that pingy sound where as hum bucker pickups will have a more solid output, both will produce that great distortion sound, also having a high action means its hard to play the guitar, example if the strings are close to the fret board its easier to play the instrument, also check to see if the neck is reasonably strait as this does make a difference to the action, most guitars have a truss rod so the neck can be adjusted, but is best left to a professional repair man. If your not sure ask for advice most guitar shops will give you good advice, as they want you to come back and shop again, also when you buy that first guitar its useless - unless its properly in tune so well worth buying an electric guitar tuner. After you have your prize possession all you need is talent.
